The Institute of Innovative Minds
“The creation of this institute is reactionary to a failed school system. A system for the creation of slaves and repression of creativity. A system that has served its purpose in taking the fight and independence from our youth; thus stalling the world. Here at the Institute of Innovative Minds we’re here to take that back and move the world into the future.” stated by Dr. Daniel Hill at the school's opening ceremony.
What’s up, family? This week we are continuing to build or Project IN...movie...book...comic, maybe. Well, I’ll decide that before we end our eight week build up to the first draft; just bear with me. Anyway, we will be discussing the school itself today. THE INSTITUTE OF INNOVATIVE MINDS...minds….minds… minds.
In 2018, Dr. Daniel Hill established a school geared toward low income students across the nation; to give them an opportunity for them to see STEM as a way to live rather than learn and forget. The institute is called the Institute of Innovative Minds or I.I.M. and is symbolized by the bull, the leopard, the eagle, the owl and the bear. The students are affectionately referred to as innovators or world pushers.
The institute is massive and 100 percent eco friendly; no land was turned over to build the structure, with the exception of where the pillars stand, holding the city sized facility above the tree tops. The bottom of the institute serves as an artificial sun, shining light on the ground at around 5,000 degrees kelvin, the same as the sun. It also mimics sky movements; for example, when it rains it flows to the bottom and rains below. When a cloud blocks the sun it mimics the cloud and the light temperature that would normally reach the ground. No cars are allowed on the premises; all transportation on and off facility grounds are handled by electric trams. It functions much like a city and is the epitome of innovation.
When students apply, they are required to submit their boldest idea to push the world into the future; the ideas are not limited to STEM, there are buildings specifically designed for the arts. When accepted, Innovators can move on campus or choose to live outside the I.I.M.; all accommodations are free for those who cannot afford it. Tuition is paid through their work and dedication; this is gauged through quarterly progress reports. If a student is to not meet a feasible goal by the end of the quarter they are given a warning and tutored; if this happens for more than three quarters, the student will be suspended or their scholarship is suspended until further notice. No student has been suspended as of now.
Over the last five years since its open, they have created remarkable tech such as energy fields and molecular teleportation. Very few experiments are sold to any governments for fear they will be used for purposes of war or anything malicious. Governments have asked many times and offered money most sane people would never refuse; but, students and faculty are adamant about never letting their tech be weapons of war.
The school continues to provide homes and opportunities for students to push the world further and create a way for themselves in this world. Tune in next week when we will be building our characters for the Project IN movie and if you haven't checked out our synopsis in our last blog check that out too. Thanks for reading.
